Gas turbine vane film cooling for engine-realistic combustor flows

Abstract:

While all lean-burn combustors follow the same design principles and intent, there exist a wide variety of combustor geometries in use, whose downstream aerothermal fields are unquantified. Conventional design processes for the nozzle guide vane (NGV) range from simple ones that use homogeneous isotropic turbulence intensity at the inlet to more advanced ones that use a turbulence intensity profile and/or swirl profile that is fixed in space and time.
