Abstract:

Chloroplasts are photosynthetic organelles in plants, and their functions are dependent on the import of thousands of proteins from the cytosol. These proteins engage with the translocon at the outer envelope membrane of chloroplasts (TOC), which acts as a selective conduit for the first stage of their import across the double membrane system.
