Coherent unsteadiness in film cooling

Abstract:

Film cooling is vital for the cooling of the blades and vanes in the high temperature environment of a jet engine high pressure turbine stage. Previous research into film cooling has typically concentrated on its time-mean performance. However, results from other studies upon more simplified geometries, suggest that coherent unsteadiness is likely to also be present in film cooling flows.
