Working-class women's experiences of higher education in post-war Britain

Abstract:

This thesis is the first focused study of working-class women who attended higher education institutions in England and Wales in the 1960s and 1970s. A very small proportion of working- class women completed courses of higher education in this period, despite educational reforms such as the Education Act of 1944 and the Robbins Report of 1963.
