Despite a decade of publications investigating the effect of germline polymorphisms on both toxicity related to treatment with 5-fluorouracil-based (5-FU) chemotherapy and prognosis following diagnosis with colorectal cancer (CRC), few genetic biomarkers have been identified convincingly.
