The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) located at CERN is the world’s most powerful particle accelerator, with plans to collide protons at a center of mass energy of 14 TeV. These proton-proton collisions occur within particle detectors located around the circumference of the accelerator. After approximately 10 years of running at this energy, the LHC accelerator will be upgraded to the super-LHC and it will be necessary to upgrade the constituent particle detectors, in particular the CMS and ATL...
